Tufi Education Project

In 2019 an investigative trip was conducted to identify the need for Education support in the Tufi District. A team of 3 highly experienced Australian Teachers went to Tufi and visited many of the schools along this remote coastline.  Students were attending schools in the region with no books or pencils and Teachers are working with no resources to support the curriculum.

The village communities highly value the education of their children and know that education leads to a better quality of life.  Meeting with entire village communities, it was evident that the Schools were in desperate need for support which included professional development for teachers and the supply of resources.

In 2020, the Tufi Education Team are planning to return and deliver expertly designed professional development to the Teachers of these schools. Teachers in these schools are dedicated and know that their role is vital in the Education of all students in their schools.

This professional development program will focus on teaching Literacy and Numeracy and will be designed to build the capacity of Teachers.

The first trip is scheduled for April 12th to April 18th, 2020. Further trips are envisaged for June and September 2020.
