Volunteer Scholarship – Diploma of Nursing

This project identifies the best of the VHV’s (Samantha) and sponsors her three year tertiary studies to complete a Diploma of Nursing.

No Roads Foundation (NRF) is committed to this sponsorship with the stipulation that on successful completion of her studies, Samantha returns to her local community and works in the Tufi Health hCentre for a period equivalent to that of her sponsorship (3 years).

This further education and training opportunity would not be possible without a scholarship for Samantha and VHV’s living remotely, due to the expense. It is a huge commitment for the whole family with the participant required to live away from home for the duration of their studies.

Baby Born At Sea

Samantha’s Practicum – Baby Born On High Seas!

Samantha (scholarship recipient) continues her nursing studies and recently completed her first-semester practicum. The highlight of Samantha’s practicum has been the midwifery component and she has delivered three babies during this time. One of these babies was delivered in a small boat, as she was sent to a local village to collect a woman who had gone into labour with another student, and before they could get back to the health centre the baby was born – safe and well on the high seas!

A Successful First Semester

Sam’s Inspiring Update.

We are committed to supporting and developing village health workers in PNG. For the next three years, we are supporting Sam to complete her nursing studies in Port Moresby. Sam is in the top five in her class and is currently undertaking a three-month practicum at a health centre. Thank you to the amazing group of Northern Territory fundraisers who are fundraising to support Sam’s dream of becoming a nurse.
